Everyday Make-up

My Everyday Make-up Routine

Although I like to experiment with make-up and try new things, I have a collection of items which I use on a regular basis and is the contents of my general everyday face.

So for days when I need to do my make-up quickly or I’m not sure how I want it to look; I’ll just reach for these products as I know I’ll be happy it.

Everyday Make-up

I like to change it up a bit for when I’m going on a night out or somewhere nice for the day, but generally for work I will go for these products for my everyday look.

The Base

Base Make-up

bareMinerals Prime Time BB Primer Daily Defense SPF 30. I love to use products with SPF so I love that this combines a primer with SPF as it just makes getting ready in the morning a bit more convenient. It’s such a lightweight consistency and dries matte for a perfect base for foundation. I talk about this in a bit more depth here in my Daily Skincare Essentials post.

bareMinerals Original Foundation. I use the shade Fairly Light which is for ‘porcelain to light skin with neutral undertones’. This is my all time favourite foundation and I’ve been using it for years. I had never used mineral foundation before this, but now I much prefer using mineral over liquid, as it’s a really quick method of applying foundation and I love this particular one as it doesn’t clog my pores or dry my skin out.

I sometimes use liquid on different occasions, but this is my everyday choice. It’s a powder but feels like a cream once buffed into the skin, and it’s so lightweight I hardly feel like I’m wearing any make-up. I use ‘original’ as I prefer the luminous finish, but you can also buy this in ‘matte’. I also love their Ready foundation which is a solid mineral and sometimes switch between the two.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Brush on Glow BB Highlighter. This is a new favourite of mine as it conceals my dark circles but also feels smooth and lightweight under the eye. I really love this for how smooth and non drying it is, but I have a more in depth review coming soon, so I’m not going to go into too much detail about it. I’m so happy I found this product and you can read about why in my next post.

Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder. This is a product that I hesitated buying at first, as I wasn’t sure just how much difference a setting powder would make for under my eyes. This was recommended to me by a friend and I’m so glad I listened to her and bought it!

First of all, you get so much product that I think it justifies the £18.50 price, as I can see this lasting absolutely ages as you only use a tiny amount. I use a fluffy eye brush to dust this under each eye over my concealer to set it.

It’s described as ‘lighter than air’ and it really is! The colour I use (shade 1) is a transparent white colour that works to brighten as well as set under the eyes and it’s a micro-fine powder so it doesn’t settle into any lines. There’s two shades and I use shade 1 which is the white transparent colour – perfect for my fair skin tone.

A great tip my friend told me about this product is that it helps with mascara transferring under the eyes throughout the day. I sometimes suffer with this and often when I look in the mirror I have to wipe away bits of mascara from under my eyes, so when she told me that it helps with this I couldn’t wait to test it out. I was skeptical – but it actually works! Since using this I’ve noticed I don’t have to worry about checking under my eyes for any mascara that may have transferred underneath. I’m not sure if this will help with this problem for everyone, but it’s definitely a bonus for me that it does!

Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I’m a big fan of all their eyeshadow primers but this is definitely my favourite. I love the fact that it has anti-aging properties in it and I like knowing that it’s benefiting the skin on my eyelids as well as prepping it for eyeshadow.

Since using this I’ve noticed my eyelids feel a lot smoother and much less dry. It leaves my eyeshadow crease free all day, but also smooths my eyelids and I’ve really notice how much it’s improved the texture.

Eyes and Brows

My Everyday Make-up

Urban Decay Naked Basics. Such a great little eyeshadow palette which I love for how versatile and convenient it is for creating a variety of looks. It has everything you need for a smokey or natural eye and has five matte colours (including black) and one demi matte which can be used as a highlighter.

For everyday I usually use the shade ‘Naked 2’ (taupe) all over the lids, ‘Faint’ (medium brown) in the crease, smudge a little ‘Crave’ (dark brown/black) on the bottom lash line and highlight with ‘Venus’ (creamy off-white demi matte).

Maybelline Master Smoky shadow-pencil – Smokey Black. I use this in my waterline. It’s ultra pigmented, super creamy and really long lasting. It’s quite a chunky pencil for using in the waterline so I have to make sure I keep it sharpened (to as thin a rounded point as I can get), but it’s the only eyeliner I’ve used so far which is really long lasting in the waterline, so I don’t mind.

Diorshow Waterproof Mascara in Black. Best mascara ever in my opinion! I occasionally try other brands but I always come back to this. It’s buildable so great for adding volume without clumps.

I actually like using a lot of mascara to really build on the volume and make them thick, and this is great as it doesn’t clump when I add a few layers. I have really straight eyelashes so always start with an eyelash curler and I find using this mascara after curling them really helps hold the curl for longer.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers. An absolute must have! I never put mascara on without curling them with these first and I think they are amazing for creating a curl that actually lasts. I’ve tried a few different brands of eyelash curler, but these have been the only ones that have worked for me.

Benefit Gimme Brow – Medium/Deep. Most of the time I just brush my brows with a clear gel to set them, but currently I’ve been enjoying using this as a quick step for when I want to add thickness at the front. I have quite thick eyebrows naturally, so I love this for adding a little bit of  extra thickness and colour to the beginning and end of my brows.

La Ligne de Chanel Professional Eyeliner Duo. This beautiful product is a must-have in my opinion and I absolutely adore it. As you can see from the picture it’s been quite well used and has been a staple product in my make-up bag for years.

It contains two silicone pigment powders and two applicators. One smudge applicator for mimicking the look of smudged kohl and one pointed tip brush applicator to mimic the look and precision of a liquid eyeliner.

I wet the applicator slightly for when I use it as an eyeliner and it creates a super precise and intense black line that gets really close to the lash line.

Lip and Cheeks

My Everyday Make-up

Cargo Cosmetics Water Resistant Blush – Bali. This is my current favourite blusher and as it’s water resistant the colour stays vibrant all day without fading. It’s a beautiful blue-toned pink with a slight shimmer and pearlescent finish.

bareMinerals ‘All Over Face Color’ – Clear Radiance. I’m using this as a highlighter at the moment as I love its natural soft pink colour for a really dewy finish and subtle radiance. Perfect for achieving an everyday natural glow.

bareMinerals ‘Pretty Amazing Lipcolor’ – Free Will. My ‘go-to’ pink for a nude lip. It’s the perfect nude pink for me and it has amazing staying power and a lovely creamy texture with a glossy shine.

Everyday Make-up

So there you have it, all the products I use for an ‘everyday’ look. What products are ‘must-haves’ in your make-up bag to create an everyday look?

Thank you! Yes I think it’s definitely worth it, Bare Minerals primers have been the best primers I’ve used. It really does last ages! It’s a 30ml bottle too and you only use a tiny amount sparingly. Of course, I love reading new blogs i’ll definitely check it out x
