Five Favourites | Lips

I love wearing lipstick and lipgloss and never feel completely ‘made-up’ without it. Whether it’s just a touch of lipgloss, some lip balm or the full works with lip liner and lipstick – I feel a bit ‘naked’ without something on my lips!

I’ve built up quite a collection and find that lipsticks are the one product that I just can’t help myself buying if I see one I like and can easily be talked into buying them even if I don’t need it!

Although I like to wear a bright or red lip for occasions and have plenty of those in my collection, nude/pinks and plum/pinks are my absolute favourite shades and the shades I have the most in.

I’ve just done a little post on my five current favourites and the ones I am reaching for the most at the moment.

From left to right we have; Maybelline Baby Lips in Strike a Rose, Mac Cremesheen in Crème Cup, Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Native, bareMinerals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor in Free Will and Rimmel Apocalips in Nude Eclipse.

First up is the Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Native. I love Urban decay lipsticks – they have amazing pigmentation and colour pay-off but are really creamy and feel so soft on the lips.

It just glides on so smoothly and applies evenly without even using a lip liner.

The texture is so creamy and doesn’t dry out the lips or ‘crack’ – it stays super smooth for ages and leaves a lovely sheen.

Native is my favourite shade of theirs and is the perfect colour for me – it’s a pale pink but has a slight ‘rosey’ tone to it and I just find it a really flattering shade.

Rimmel Apocalips in Nude Eclipse is a shade I bought on a whim but now I love it! I initially thought it might be too pale for me and ‘wash’ me out a little, but it’s a lovely nude, pinky-beige colour with the most amazing, intense ‘lacquer’ like shine!

It can look a little pale so I team this with bronzer and a warm, peachy blush (rather than a pink blush) – which make a great combination for this lip colour and match it perfectly.

It feels super creamy on the lips and the colour pay-off is amazing, you really only need a tiny amount. It offers the intense colour pay-off of a lipstick but with all the shine of a lip gloss – and this one gives an amazing glossy finish.

I love Mac lipsticks and one of my favourite Mac shades is the Cremesheen lipstick in Crème Cup. It’s a light blue-toned pink which I love.

It’s a lovely pale pink, everyday colour and definitely suits a dewy complexion, with a light rose coloured blush and a smokey-eye.

It has a lovely creamy texture and is slightly glossy too. I prefer lipsticks with a gloss or sheen to them as it’s just more of a flattering finish on me.

I love this lipstick for both everyday wear and also nights out with a smokey-eye – the perfect combination for me!

bareMinerals Pretty Amazing Lipcolor in Free Will is probably my favourite nude lip colour! I love it so much that I bought a second one for when this one runs out, as I always panic that my favourite lipsticks will go out of stock!

It feels really soft, creamy and comforting on the lips – no dryness as the creamy texture is super long-lasting and feels hydrating – leaving a lovely, ‘glazed’ shine.

I would say that the colour is a warm nude, pink/beige and when combined with a slightly darker lip liner it creates the perfect nude lip in my opinion.

I mostly wear it alone as it’s a great everyday colour, but for nights out it looks amazing with lip liner and creates a beautiful, defined full lip for the perfect nude lip combination! I love it!

I’m a massive fan of Maybelline Baby Lips lip balms and lately I’ve been loving this one from the Electro range in Strike a Rose.

I have about five of these lip balms and I couldn’t rate them enough! They are so hydrating and softening on dry lips and offer beautiful colour and shine.

I actually love all of them and want the whole collection, but this one in Strike a Rose is my latest addition and I love it! It is quite a bright colour, but when applied evenly it doesn’t look too bold and gives a lovely hot pinky/coral colour.

But apply it sparingly as too much can look very bright! I do wear this during the day when applied evenly (with a mirror!) and love the colour it gives to my lips and it’s really flattering.

What I love most about Maybelline Baby Lips is that they have amazing colour pay-off and are really pigmented for a lip balm.

I can’t stop by a Maybelline counter without having a look to see if they have any new colours or colours I don’t have – I think I’m a little obsessed with them!

So those are my current ‘go-to’ lip colours and the ones I’m reaching for the most at the moment – that may change soon as I am always on the hunt for a new lipstick to add to my collection!

Whats your favourite shade of lipstick?

Do you have a particular favourite shade or do you like to experiment with different colours?
