When shopping for lipsticks, I usually go for the same kinds of colours: nude pinks and pinky-plums. I only intended to get one lipstick, but, as always when I get to the Mac lipstick counter, I can never just choose one!
I always research a few shades before I go; looking for reviews with swatches so I’m not in there for hours testing too many out – and my boyfriend was going to be with me and I didn’t want to put him through that!
Left: Angel | Right: High Strung
After a ‘few’ swatches, I finally chose these two: Angel and High Strung.
First up is Angel – a soft pink with a frost finish. A soft pale pink is the kind of colour I usually go for and for me, this is a perfect everyday pink.
I wear this as an everyday colour, but it also looks amazing with a smokey eye for a night out as they really compliment each other.
I love the combination of a soft baby pink lip with silver and dark grey smokey eyes, and for nights out thats the kind of look I usually go for as it suits my pale complexion.
It doesn’t dry out my lips and feels really smooth and creamy to apply, leaving a lovely glossy finish, which I love!
High Strung (Frost)
High Strung is definitely a new favourite of mine! It’s a gorgeous deep silver pink and it just looks so lovely on!
I wouldn’t normally go for this kind of colour, as it looks like it would be quite sheer, but that’s definitely not the case and after looking at reviews and swatches, I decided to try it out on myself.
As soon as I tried it, I knew it would become a firm favourite! I find the colour so unique being a silvery – slightly ‘metallic’ – pink with a little glisten and shimmer to it. It also feels lovely and creamy on the lips and leaves a glossy finish too.
I’m so pleased with the colours I chose – they’re definitely my kind of shades. I love adding to my Mac lipstick collection, so if you have any recommendations let me know – I’d love to hear which ones are your favourites!
