Estee Lauder Double Wear Bone

My Top 3 Foundations for Pale Skin Tones

I don’t own a lot of foundations and I just have a few favourites that I rotate depending on what I’m wearing it for.

As I have quite a pale skin tone, I’m usually the lightest shade or second to lightest in nearly all foundations and after years of trying different ones out, I’ve finally found my three favourites which match my skin tone perfectly.

I wear bareMinerals Original SPF15 Mineral Foundation in Fairly Light, Estée Lauder Double Wear in Bone and Double Wear Light in Intensity 0.5 and both SPF10.

Favourite Foundations

I have three different types for different uses and I mainly wear bareMinerals for during the day and either of the Estée Lauder foundations for nights out.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Bone

I love Double Wear Stay-in-Place for a full coverage and it’s great for putting on in the mornings if you know you’re going out in the evening and won’t have time to re-do your make-up. It’s a medium, buildable coverage which I would say builds to a full coverage with a natural, semi-matte finish.

I find a lot of similarities between both Double Wear and Double Wear Light with regards to how the coverage and overall finish looks, but I do find that Double Wear is definitely a more noticeable full coverage so I do always keep this for nights out or morning-to-evening wear, whereas I would sometimes wear Double Wear Light during the day too.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Bone

Back to Double Wear and its staying power — which is amazing and definitely lives up to its 15-hour staying power — and as I’ve mentioned before, this is the foundation I wear if I know I can’t come home and re-do my make-up as it still has a flawless coverage hours later!

It also doesn’t budge once it’s on, so no smudging or transferring on clothes and even though you can build to a full coverage with this, there’s no ‘cakey’ or dry feeling to the face and that’s what I love about Double Wear — that you can trust it — once it’s on it stays on and gives a flawless full coverage without feeling caked in make-up.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Intensity 0.5

Another Estée Lauder foundation with Double Wear Light in Intensity 0.5. I love this foundation for a lighter version of Double Wear and one that I feel comfortable wearing both during the day and evenings. It’s a sheer to medium coverage and I’d say that’s true as it doesn’t build to the intensity which Double Wear can, but is enough to build to a medium coverage.

It covers like a dream, hiding all blemishes and imperfections and buffs over the skin smoothly, so you can blend evenly without worrying about it drying or setting too quickly. But that’s what’s great about this foundation, that it enables you to blend a really even coverage, but once it’s on it stays put and again, like Double Wear, is smudge free and doesn’t transfer onto clothes.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation Fairly Light

I’ve been wearing bareMinerals for years now and when I first discovered it, it was the first time I was truly happy with my foundation — coverage, colour, staying power — I literally loved everything about it! I wear the shade Fairly Light, which is for ‘porcelain-to-light skin with neutral undertones’ which is perfect for my pale complexion.

It covers beautifully and can give a sheer to full coverage as it’s buildable. I wear the Original foundation as I love that it gives a slightly luminous finish and there’s also a Matte version but I haven’t tried that yet.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation Fairly Light

Although it applies as a powder, it feels like a cream and I just find it so effortless to apply as it just buffs in smoothly and evenly and feels so lightweight that I hardly feel like I’m wearing any make-up at all.

It’s my everyday foundation and I just find that it ticks all the boxes for me; great coverage, long-lasting staying power, natural finish, quick and easy to apply and evens out the skin tone perfectly.

What are your favourite foundations?

Do you have different foundations for evening and daytime wear?

I agree, it’s took me years to find the right shade for me and a lot of trying out various brands until I found the perfect ones! Thanks for your comment, I’ll have a read of your recent post :-) x

I LOVE Bare Minerals foundation! I started using it five or six years ago and have never looked back. Strangers started complimenting my on my skin, which was definitely a first. It’s just bar-none the best foundation ever. I prefer the original (you and I wear the same shade! Internet high-five!) – the matte can make your skin look a bit flat/less glowing. Anyway, I have so much love for Bare Minerals. I’m glad you can relate :)

Me too I just love it! Best foundation I’ve ever used! I’m always telling friends about it and recommending it to people! I’m glad you said that about the matte version as I’ve always been intrigued to buy it and try it out, but I think i’ll stick with original as I much prefer the luminous finish it has! :-) x
