My Everyday Make-Up Brushes

Even though I have a variety of different make-up brushes, I tend to just use the same few on a day-to-day basis.

I still like having a big make-up brush collection and never get rid of any I don’t use, just incase I might need a different type of brush or if I’m doing complicated eye make-up which might require a few different eye brushes, but generally, I stick to the same 6.

Make-up Brush Collection

With make-up, I can happily give it away to someone if I don’t use it anymore without fear of regret, but for some reason I just really can’t seem to get rid of brushes I don’t use just incase I ever need them!

But for my daily make-up routine (which rarely changes apart from I might change my eyeshadow colour or lipstick) I use my favourite 6 brushes.

Real Techniques Blush Brush

I should probably have started with my foundation brush, but as I’ve already put the pictures in this order I will just go through them as they come!

My favourite blusher brush is the Real Techniques Blush Brush. It’s quite a large, fluffy brush for applying blusher, but I personally love it as I love applying quite a distinct wash of blush as I don’t tend to use dark blushes so I need the brush to pick up a good amount of product, which this does.

I always get an even application with this, as it distributes the product evenly for a really natural flush of colour. I like to apply my blusher right on the apples of my cheeks with circular motions, then gently sweep whatever is left on the brush upwards towards my ears, so it creates a gradual fading of colour towards my hairline.

bareMinerals Flawless Face Brush

For bronzer I love using the bareMinerals Flawless Face Brush. I love bareMinerals brushes as they are just amazing quality. I’ve had this brush for years when I first got the starter pack and it came with it, and its always stayed in perfect condition even with regular washes.

Its soft, tapered bristles are perfect for sweeping bronzer around the face and even under the cheek bones for subtle contouring.

No7 Eyeshadow Blend and Contour Brush

I love to change-up my eye looks for evenings/nights out etc, but for my everyday work make-up I just tend to sweep a wash of light eyeshadow all over the lid, a little sweep of a darker shade in the crease for definition and then eyeliner underneath smudged gently with an eyeshadow brush to blur any sharp lines.

So for that really basic every day look, I just use two of the No7 Eyeshadow Blend and Contour Brushes. I use two of them because I use one for lighter shades and highlighter on my brow bone and the other for darker shades for in the crease.

I actually have a third one for brighter eyeshadow colours but I rarely use that. It’s fair to say I’m a big fan of these brushes and love having a few for different shades so I don’t have to keep washing them in-between uses. They wash really well too and have stayed in great condition even though they’ve been washed loads.

They’re super soft and blend eyeshadow beautifully and are small enough to gently sweep under my eyes to blend a little eyeshadow over my eyeliner to soften it.

Make-up Brush Collection

My everyday foundation is bareMinerals Original Foundation which is a loose mineral foundation and I love using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush for that. It’s great for powder and mineral foundation and really picks up the product well and distributes it evenly.

It’s just the right size to get around the nose and forehead but also great for really buffing the foundation in circular motions and blends it all really evenly.

I always end up with an even, flawless base after using this and it’s also really quick to apply mineral foundation with.

Models Own Powder Brush

I apply a sweep of highlighter around my face and the tops of my cheekbones and I use the Models Own Powder Brush. This came in a set of 5 brushes I bought a few years ago and I just found that it worked so well for applying highlighter and have used it for that purpose ever since.

Its round, fluffy bristles apply highlighter really gently for a soft, blended and even application.

What are your favourite make-up brushes?

Do you use a variety from different brands like me?

They’re all great brushes aren’t they! That’s why I initially bought those No7 eyeshadow brushes as I’d heard that they are great dupes for the Mac 217! I did end up investing in the Mac 217 later on and think it’s amazing for blending really smokey, dark eye make-up so I do love it for that, but for applying my quick everyday eye make-up routine the No7 ones are fab! They’re just so soft and blend eyeshadow so well I love them! x

I have that eye brush set too! I love it! I would love to have loads of Mac brushes as I bet they are amazing but I only have the Mac 217! I’d love to invest in some really good quality brushes but they are just so expensive!! I’m glad there’s really good affordable ones like RT because I’ve been able to build a good make-up brush collection from buying the sets which are great value for money xx

They are definitely well priced, I think the set of 5 I bought was about £10! I initially bought the set because I just really wanted the angled brush out of it but ended up loving all the others in it too and was really impressed! I just find the powder brush really soft for sweeping highlighter and I love the angled brush for applying eyeliner and brow products as it’s just the perfect size and shape in my opinion! Also, I use the lip brush it comes with for applying a dab of highlighter in the inner corners of my eyes. I use all the brushes out of the set and I just think it’s such great value for money x
